The top U.S. law enforcement official on Friday pledged an independent investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated this after questions about bias were raised when she met privately with former President Bill Clinton.

Lynch, who was nominated to serve as a U.S. attorney by Clinton, said she understood concerns that had been raised after she met with him earlier this week.
This is even as she maintains she did not discuss an ongoing FBI investigation with him.
Lynch said she will follow the recommendations of prosecutors who are examining whether Hillary Clinton violated any laws through her use of the private email system.
“They are acting independently, they follow the law, they follow the facts,” Lynch said in remarks at the Aspen Institute think tank. The findings will be reviewed by supervisors and FBI Director James Comey before being presented to Lynch, who will follow their recommendations,” she said.
Lynch highlighted those involved in evaluating the case would not be appointed by the Obama administration.
The FBI is investigating Hillary Clinton’s server to see if classified information was mishandled, a topic which has become a key issue in her presidential campaign.
A State Department review released in May, faulted Hillary Clinton for her exclusive use of the private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.
The department said the practice posed a security risk and did not comply with government records laws.
